Spa Therapies Certification Program

Enhance your massage therapy education through our Spa Therapies Certification program!

30 Quarter Credit Hours / 614 Clock Hours / 34 Weeks
(taken concurrently with other programs)

Hundreds of spas in the tri-state region offer an ever-expanding array of exotic spa treatments. Day spas, resort spas, medical spas, and cruise ships are demanding employees who have specific training in spa techniques and operations. To meet the demand, we offer the Spa Therapies Certification Program, which can be added to any of our massage therapist programs or taken separately as a Continuing Education program.

The Spa Therapies Certification Program will expand on massage therapy education with specific training in spa treatments and spa operations. Spa therapies for both wet and dry room applications such as hot stone massage, body wraps and cocoons, seaweed wraps, mud masques, therapeutic joint masques, brushing, aromatherapy massage and more are covered, as well as the theory behind the therapeutic effectiveness of the treatments. Operational issues such as marketing, retailing, equipment/supply purchase and care, spa etiquette and more will be discussed.

Rather than simply watching a demonstration, all students in the spa therapist program will experience giving and receiving the various spa treatments through structured, supervised practical sessions. Most importantly, our students will apply spa treatments to actual clients in the school spa, giving them the hands-on, real-life experience they will need to be successful in the competitive spa environment.
