The Academy of Massage wants to help you continue to grow in your massage therapy education.
Our massage school in Hackensack offers massage therapy continuing education programs to current massage therapists looking to advance their knowledge and skills. Our program is designed to equip you with a greater understanding of massage therapy and ways to seek advanced opportunities in the industry. Our massage therapy continuing education programs can build on your existing knowledge and equip you with new techniques and methods.
Our massage therapy school is dedicated to helping you continue to further your knowledge in the industry. Our Hackensack massage school offers continuing education programs that are approved by the National Certification Board for Category A CEUs (continuing education units).

Hot Stone Massage
Train to use stones and fragrant oils to perform warm and soothing muscle massages. Hot stone massage is a popular service and is featured on the service lists of most spas and salons.
Raindrop Technique
This massage is a blend of gentle and energetic massage techniques. Therapeutic essential oils are dropped onto the body like raindrops during this massage. This relaxing massage is used to help balance electrical frequency in the body, support structural alignment and soften constricted muscles.
Manual Lymph Drainage
This procedure can provide dramatic effects for clients. MLD is most often used postsurgically, where it is recognized as an effective way to reduce scars, discoloration and swelling. MLD can help the flow of lymph through the lymphatic system, which is a natural process that purifies the body and regulates irritation, swelling, and edema.
Thai Massage
Thai Massage was originally used by monks and nuns in Thailand to provide mind and body rejuvenation. The technique includes choreographed sequences that feature rocking, compression and stretching using the hands, forearms, elbows, knees and feet.
Anma (Japanese Deep Tissue Massage)
This massage technique can be performed on a table or on the floor, sitting or lying down. It is the oldest massage form from East Asia. Anma is known for helping with chronic muscle pain and conditions. This technique is often blended with other types of massage.
Foot Reflexology
This massage therapy technique is based on the idea that specific reflexes in the feet apply to a part of the body. This course focuses on the history of reflexology, the location of certain reflex points, and the application of pressure on the foot.
Shiatsu 1
In this massage therapy education program, you can learn about shiatsu techniques. You can learn to locate meridians and tsubos and their relation to beginning and ending points of the body. Diagnostic tools, meditation techniques and makko-ho exercises also are taught in this course.
Shiatsu 2
This course builds on our Shiatsu 1 program. You can evaluate case studies of the Five Element Theory and Generation and Control cycles as you learn to apply them to your clients’ conditions.
Traditional Chinese Medicine
This course introduces you to the history of traditional Chinese medicine. You can learn about the concepts of the Five Element Theory, yin/yang, chi meridians, and tsubos.
Clinical Applications
This pharmacology course takes an in-depth look at the effects of medications, including over-the-counter, prescription and controlled substances. You can learn about pain management techniques including how to decrease pain perception. This course offers current research methodology, its values and drawbacks, and ways it applies to techniques used in massage therapy.
Reiki 1
This massage therapy education program trains you to access and balance energy through Reiki techniques that can help clients with chronic and acute conditions. Reiki is also known for improving spiritual focus and clarity.
Trigger Point Therapy
This technique was developed by Dr. Janet Travell and Dr. David Simons. It is used to identify hyper-constricted muscle areas and pain patterns, and application to decrease trigger points. This technique is often used in hospitals and chiropractic offices for pain management.
Yogic Neuromuscular Therapy
This therapeutic bodywork technique uses the principles of deep tissue release, Kundalini yoga, and Reiki. Yogic Neuromuscular Therapy features powerful methods to release built-up stress, tension, pain and trauma on physical, energetic and emotional areas for the client.
